FAQ's

Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions I get asked about Solution -Focused Hypnotherapy.

What is Hypnosis ?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we all experience at various times and in various depths throughout the day. The experience of hypnosis has been described in many ways but is often explained as a streamlined state of focused attention. Many people describe hypnosis as feeling similar to daydreaming, when they are neither fully alert, nor asleep. Everyone’s experiences and therefore descriptions of hypnosis will vary because all trance states feel different to different people. Hypnosis is usually associated with a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation.

If I'm hypnotised do I give up control?

You are always in control. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client, where the client's goals and desires are taken into consideration. The therapist acts as a guide, helping the client access their subconscious mind and make positive changes.

During hypnosis, you remain fully aware of your surroundings and can choose to accept or reject any suggestions given by the therapist. Your subconscious mind is open to suggestion, but ultimately, you have the power to decide what you accept and what you reject. So, if you ever feel uncomfortable or want to stop the session, you can simply choose to emerge from the hypnotic state. Hypnosis is a tool that empowers you to take control of your own mind and make positive changes in your life.

How many sessions will I need?

When it comes to solution focused hypnotherapy, the number of sessions required can vary from person to person. However, typically, sessions are recommended to be held on a weekly basis. Generally, it is suggested to have around 5-6 sessions to achieve the desired results.

In addition to the weekly sessions, it is also advised to listen to the provided MP3 recording on a nightly basis. This will help reinforce the positive suggestions and enhance the effectiveness of the therapy.

How does hypnosis feel?

When experiencing hypnosis, it can feel like entering a natural state of mind, similar to daydreaming. Some individuals may find themselves fully immersed, hearing every word the therapist says, while others may notice their mind wandering. It is common for people to lose track of time while in hypnosis. However, the level of awareness or unawareness during the process is unimportant and does not affect the effectiveness of the therapy.

Does online hypnotherapy work?

Yes, hypnotherapy can work effectively online. Many studies have shown that online hypnotherapy sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions. In fact, some people find it even more comfortable and at ease to undergo hypnotherapy from the comfort of their own homes.

Will I reveal personal secrets whilst in hypnosis

As a professional in the field of hypnosis, I can confidently assure you that your personal secrets or confidential information will not be divulged under any circumstances. Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy, being a highly collaborative approach, places utmost importance on your autonomy and empowers you to exercise complete control over the information you choose to disclose. Furthermore, I consistently adhere to a respectful and considerate approach when working with individuals, valuing their concerns and treating them with the utmost seriousness.
