During the years leading up to menopause, which usually starts around age 40, women often experience changes in their hormone levels. 

The amount of estrogen and progesterone in your body can go up and down. When estrogen levels drop, the body may get hotter and start sweating to cool down. 

Progesterone levels also tend to decrease, which can cause physical and emotional problems.
